Completely wireless and simple to install, this home weather station tracks and stores data about more than 20 weather conditions and displays them on a touch-screen LCD monitor that measures only 8 inches wide by 5-1/2 inches high. The instruction booklet accompanying the weather station is easy to comprehend, making the station accessible to children, as well as adult hobbyists, gardeners, campers, and fishing enthusiasts. There are three outdoor sensors, each powered by a solar cell: an anemometer that attaches to a building, fence, or roof to measure wind speed and direction; a thermo-hygrometer to measure temperature and humidity; and a self-emptying rain gauge. (At least six hours of sunshine are needed to operate the solar cells for 24 hours. Each sensor has a backup battery-power unit that requires two AA batteries--not included.) A 4-1/4-by-2-3/4-inch baro-hygrometer measures indoor temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity, and mounts on a wall or stands on a desk. (It requires four AAA batteries--not included.)

The touch-screen monitor keeps track of the indoor and outdoor sensors, and also displays local weather/barometric pressure forecasts. Oregon Scientific WMR968 Review
THe Oregon Scientific WMR968 is ujst what we needed at out house. It is solar powered weather instrument and included a wind/rain/temp measurements. We live on the water in Seabrook Texas and have very strong winds and a lot of rain. This unit has operated very well. As a matter of fact it is our second unit. The first was flooded during hurricane Ike. The temperature indication continued to work. The wind transmitter could not take being submerged under salt water and the rain gauge was washed away. All in all we have enjoyed the ease of use. Once it is installed there is no upkeep!! :2010-09-16 04:01:21

A little disappointed
As with all the other reviews the directions on this thing leave a lot to the imagination. One issue I had that I had not read was the silicone over the set screws for the wind direction and speed sensors. I found it extremely difficult to turn the set screw to lock on the sensors. I still have not gotten the directional vein set completely.
I think the most disappointing part of this is the fact the display does not stand upright as all the pictures seem to indicate. It actually only can lay down on its back with the equivalent of keyboard legs on the back that may put it at a 5 to 10 degree angle which makes it necessary to stand over it to read it.
And one thing I failed to realize is the lack of an atomic clock. Another real disappointment.
You remove those two issues and I would not have any complaints on this device. At least not at this time. I have read of sensors failing after a year or two so I have to wait to see how that pans out.

Easy setup and accurate station
After much debating on which weather station to go for I decided that the WMR968 was as much as I wanted to invest financially and Ive been really pleased with the station so far.

Admittedly the manual is a bit rubbish and the Radio Shack manual for the equivalent station is much better written but in terms of the stations output its been incredibly accurate for me. Ive been comparing my results with the local government weather station (located very close to mine) and the information is largely identical.

Installing the sensors go a long way to ensuring youre getting accurate readings - I found moving the outdoor temp and humidity sensor away from a laserlite roof helped improve the accuracy.

There are more expensive kits around but if you want an affordable station that provides a decent amount of information then this is a good option.

Poor Product poor instructions no customer service
Received product and could not get several units to communicate with master unit. Called customer service as the instructions are lacking and poorly writen. Customer service had me on hold for more than 30 min. until my cell phones battery went dead. Returned unit. :2010-09-16 04:01:21
